Ground Water Development Zones

Ground Water development is a ratio of the available ground water extraction to the net annual ground-water availability.

Classification :

  1. Dark zone : The stage of development is > 100%, that is the condition of the over exploitation. These are the areas where future ground water development is linked with water conversation measures.
  2. Gray zone : Stage of development between 90-100% (critical ), Stage of development between 70-90% (semi-critical). these are the areas which need intensive monitoring and evalutation for ground water development.
  3. White zone : Stage of development <70% (safe ) . These areas are available for unlimited exploitation possible.
